The Heart of Ireland: Whiskey, Music & Landscape
Come to Ireland for the whiskey.
Stay for the coastlines, harbour towns, quiet roads, and late nights that drift into music.
The Heart of Ireland is a boutique, host-led journey through Clare, Kerry, and Cork—pairing historic whiskey houses with small independent producers, Atlantic headlands with lived-in towns, and Irish music with the people who carry it every night of the week.
This is Ireland at its core.
Familiar.
Confident.
And deeply personal.

Where Whiskey Lives, Not Performs
This is first and foremost a whiskey journey—but not one built around brand logos or factory-floor tours.
You’ll visit working distilleries large and small.
Family operations. Revival projects. Houses where whiskey is still discussed as farming, weather, time, and risk.
You’ll hear about cask decisions, survival years, reopening old traditions, and why some producers choose to stay small on purpose.
This is Irish whiskey as it actually exists today.
And you’re seeing it with the people who make it.
Three Reasons People Book This Trip
For the Places
This is not postcard Ireland.
It’s limestone landscapes and market towns.
National parks and harbour light.
Working ports, Atlantic roads, and cliffs that still stop conversations mid-sentence.
From the Burren and the Cliffs of Moher to Killarney National Park and the harbours of West Cork, this is Ireland as it’s lived, not curated.
For the Music
Your host is Shane Hayes—Irish musician, founder of Socks in the Frying Pan, and a native of County Clare.
Throughout the week you’ll experience Ireland’s music culture where it belongs:
sessions that aren’t announced,
players who drop in because they’re nearby,
evenings that run long because no one is watching the clock.
It’s not scheduled entertainment.
It’s the real thing—shared in places that don’t need a stage.
For the Whiskey
Multiple distillery visits. One hosted tasting event.
From globally recognised names to small producers shaping the future of Irish whiskey, you’ll meet the people behind the spirits and hear how Ireland’s whiskey story is being written right now.
You’re not collecting labels.
You’re meeting the future.
A Journey in Three Acts
-
Act I — Clare & Familiar Roads
The journey begins in Ennis, in the heart of County Clare. Music, whiskey, and conversation set the rhythm before heading into limestone country and coastal villages where independence and tradition still matter.
-
Act II — Kerry to the Harbour Towns
The road bends south through Kerry’s interior before opening into colour, sea air, and time to slow down. Harbour towns, distilleries, long walks, and evenings that unfold naturally.
-
Act III — Cork & the Road Home
Cork’s stories—of trade, departure, and revival—give way to the journey north again, returning through Limerick and back to Clare for a final stretch of Atlantic coastline, music, and shared reflection.
Ireland, unrushed.
YOUR HOST:
Shane Hayes
This is not a rotating-guide experience.
You’ll be hosted personally by Shane Hayes—someone who grew up on these roads, plays in these rooms, and knows the people pouring the whiskey.
That means:
- Access that comes from familiarity
- Conversations that continue after tastings end
- Music nights shaped by relationships, not schedules
- The ease of traveling with someone who doesn’t need a map
You’re not being guided.
You’re being brought.
Whiskey With Roots
Irish whiskey is not just about liquid.
It’s about land, farming families, ports, closed distilleries reopening, and communities reclaiming lost crafts.
Throughout the week you’ll hear those stories—who built these places, why they risked everything, and what the next generation is trying to revive.
This is whiskey with memory.
Even If Whiskey Isn’t Your Only Reason…
Some guests come primarily for the landscapes.
Others for the music.
Others for the Irish welcome—and the feeling of being properly looked after for a week.
They leave talking about all three.
Small Groups. Proper Pace.
This is intentionally limited-capacity travel.
One group.
One bus.
No rush.
No filler.
Just a carefully shaped week through Ireland—built around places that matter and people worth meeting.

If you’re drawn to Atlantic roads,
unforced music,
and whiskey that comes with context—

FAQ
Do I need to be a big whiskey drinker to enjoy this tour?
Not at all.
This is a whiskey-led journey, but it’s also about landscapes, heritage, music, and meeting the people behind the distilleries. Many guests come primarily for the scenery or the Irish welcome and end up enjoying the whiskey along the way.
Non-drinkers are very welcome — you’ll still enjoy the distillery visits, coastal viewpoints, national parks, harbour towns, conversations, and musical moments that make the week special.
How big is the group?
This tour is limited to one coach only, keeping the experience intimate, social, and relaxed.
No megabuses.
No rotating guides.
Just one group traveling Ireland together.
Who leads the tour?
The tour is personally hosted by Shane Hayes—founder of the internationally renowned Irish band Socks in the Frying Pan and a touring Irish musician.
Shane travels with the group for the entire week—handling logistics, storytelling, introductions, and musical connections—so you’re always being guided by a local who knows the people and places behind the scenes.
Will there be live music on the tour?
Yes—music is woven into every day of the journey.
Some days feature pub sessions or informal gatherings; others include invited guest musicians or hosted performances showcasing some of Ireland’s finest players.
Because of Shane’s network, these experiences come through friendships rather than tourist programming.
What kind of distilleries will we visit?
You’ll experience a mix of:
• Historic, world-famous producers
• Micro-distilleries
• New-generation operations reviving lost traditions
• Family-run businesses building something for the future
Many of the most memorable stops are at small, up-and-coming places most visitors never reach.

Your tour includes:
- Luxury coach transport throughout
- Multiple distillery visits & tastings
- Scenic sightseeing stops, national parks, limestone landscapes & coastal highlights
- Premium hotels in County Clare and the harbour town of Kinsale

Flights are not included — just get here… we’ll take care of the rest.
Are airport transfers included?
We offer coordinated group transfers around the main arrival and departure windows.
Because we travel as one group on one coach, transfers are organised carefully to keep things smooth for everyone. Full details are shared once flights are booked.
Where does the tour start and finish?
The tour starts and finishes in County Clare, with the opening and closing nights based in Ennis.
Arrival, departure, and onward-travel options can be discussed during booking, and we’re happy to help with planning.
What level of walking is involved?
Gentle to moderate — coastal viewpoints, castle grounds, gardens, harbour towns, and short scenic walks.
Everything is optional and paced for enjoyment rather than endurance.
Is this suitable for couples or solo travelers?
Absolutely.
Couples, friends, and solo travelers are all very welcome—the small-group format makes this a naturally social experience.
Single travelers should note that a single supplement applies for private rooms. We’ll clearly outline the supplement cost when sharing dates and pricing, and you’re welcome to ask about availability.
What ages is the tour for?
Guests typically range from their 30s to 70+—anyone with a love for Ireland, whiskey, music, and travel will fit right in.
Is this a luxury tour?
It’s best described as boutique premium: excellent hotels, private tastings, smooth logistics, and thoughtful pacing—without anything flashy or artificial.
Can I arrive early or stay on in Ireland after the tour?
Yes—and we’re happy to help.
If you’d like to add extra nights before or after the tour, we can advise on hotels, transport, and onward travel plans to make the most of your time in Ireland.
Can I continue on to the Italy tour the following week?
You can — and many guests choose to do exactly that.
This tour finishes in Ireland, with the Italy journey beginning shortly after. We’ll travel together from Ireland to Italy — you’ll be on the flight with Shane — and from there the next adventure begins: Tuscany, with its landscapes, villages, walking-led exploration, and deep sense of place.
We can handle the logistics between the two tours so it feels like one seamless journey.
